Cold-Link Logistics is celebrating their new cold storage facility in Southbridge Business Park in Sioux City. The Miami-based cold storage warehousing firm held a ribbon cutting and open house on July 28, 2023 at their new $60 million facility, which has been open for nearly 3 months. Located on 37 acres of the city’s 27 Flags industrial site, the company currently employs 80 people and is serving local companies such as Perdue, empirical and Wells Blue Bunny with plans for a 120,000 sq. ft. expansion by next summer.
Missouri River Historical Development (MRHD) named local non-profit, Iowa’s West Coast Initiative as the recipient of a $750,000 Economic Development Match Grant during their official announcement event today at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City.
The $750,000 grant will help support the redevelopment of an existing vacant building located in downtown Sioux City into an Innovation Center that will serve as a hub for entrepreneurial activity and help support business growth in the region.
The Sioux City Economic Development Department and Sioux City Fire Rescue will host a “Business for Breakfast” event on Friday, April 21 at 8:00 a.m. at the Sioux City Convention Center. The free event will feature Dave Anderson, author of Becoming a Leader of Character: Six Habits that Make or Break a Leader at Work and at Home and share how to develop a plan for growing leaders of character in your life.
A week of events relating to innovation and entrepreneurship will take place in Sioux City as part Iowa’s West Coast Initiative Annual Launch Week, November 15th - 18th. Launch Week aims to inspire and promote collaboration among students, business owners and professionals throughout northwest Iowa by providing workshops, startup presentations and networking opportunities.
Restoration St. Louis, Inc. has received the “Growing Sioux City” award acknowledging the company’s investment in downtown Sioux City. RSL has invested $77.5 million in Downtown to rehabilitate the Warrior Hotel and Davidson buildings. The award was accepted by owners Amrit and Amy Gill and was presented by Mayor Bob Scott. A new tree will be planted to signify Restoration St. Louis’ commitment towards the growth of Sioux City, IA.
Iowa’s West Coast Initiative and Downtown Partners are excited to announce that Small Business Marketplace is back again this year in Downtown Sioux City, Iowa. The event is designed to promote downtown businesses and invite other local businesses to set up shop for the holiday season. The marketplace will be held at Bluebird Flats this year and take place each Saturday throughout the holiday season.
In an effort to enhance existing downtown spaces, Downtown Partners has created a Downtown Sioux City Storefront Grant program. Eligible projects must be located within the boundaries of the Downtown Partners SSMID and funds are strictly for use towards storefront improvements and/or start-up business space needs.
A “storefront” is described as: the facade of a store; a room(s) of a commercial building, typically used as a store. Several storefronts could make up one building parcel.
