The Sioux City MSA ranks first in the nation for economic development, according to Site Selection magazine. The ranking is based on qualified economic development projects for communities with populations between 50,000 and 200,000 people. This is the third time in the last six years that the Siouxland region has been recognized with this distinction. Mayor Bob Scott accepted the award from Site Selection magazine Executive Vice President Ron Starner.

Sabre Industries, Inc. held a ribbon cutting today for their new Iowa Industrial Complex in Sioux City's Southbridge Business Park. The multi-phase expansion on a 150 acre site will provide Sabre the opportunity to locate all Sioux City operations on one campus.The initial phase includes 400 jobs and an $18 million investment. Additional phases anticipate a total investment of $28 million and 532 jobs.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Board announced a $1.7 billion expansion of CF Industries in Woodbury County yesterday, the single largest capital investment in Iowa history. The global fertilizer manufacturer and distributor is the second largest nitrogen fertilizer producer in the world.
